Chemaf's operations are in the Haut-Katanga and Lualaba provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the heart of the Central African Copperbelt. Etoile, in Lubumbashi, has been in production since 2007. Mutoshi, in Kolwezi, will be Chemaf's flagship operation.
Etoile and Mutoshi are in the final stages of construction, with commissioning to commence upon completion. Mining activity will begin several months ahead of processing, allowing Chemaf to hit the ground running once the processing plants are operational. The restart has brought in major international vendors and independent technical oversight, reflecting the seriousness of the investment.

Chemaf was granted mining rights at Etoile in 2003 and brought the mine into production in 2007. Since then, Etoile has delivered more than 275,000 metric tons of copper and 50,000 metric tons of cobalt hydroxide.
The Phase 2 processing plant, which will treat the mixed and sulfide ore beneath the existing open pit, is nearing completion.
